With a sense of divine grace of the Chakri Dynasty to Rajanukul Institute

  

Leading light shining the way
His Majesty King and all the members of the Thai Royal family are the inspiration to Thai people toward a stronger and more prosperous destiny. His Majesty is the center of love and admiration of all citizens. His kindness also fells upon the less fortunate members of society which are included individuals with intellectual disability. It's a great merit for individuals with intellectual disability who were born as a Thais under the Chakri Dynasty. 

    

On 5th March 1964,
Phrabat Somdet Phra Paraminthra Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Somdet Phra Nangchao Sirikit Phra Boromarajininat, the Queen Mother, presided over the opening ceremony of the school for individuals with mental retardation which been bestowed the name as “Rajanukul School”. A set of the royal private film during the trips to Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand been bestowed to perform on public for raising fund to build educational rehabilitation building which is part of Rajanukul School. Known as the first school for special education in Thailand.

 

  

On 8th July 1966, 
Phrabat Somdet Phra Paraminthra Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Somdet Phra Nangchao Sirikit Phra Boromarajininat, the Queen Mother, have graciously presided over the opening ceremony of Darun Pattana Buildingat Rajanukul Hospital. This building was developed for being preschool classes of individuals with intellectual disability.

  

On 24th May 1970,
Phrabat Somdet Phra Paraminthra Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Somdet Phra Nangchao Sirikit Phra Boromarajininat, the Queen Mother, have graciously presided over “Panya Ratri”, the social evening as a fundraiser for assembling Mental Retardation Center Building for conducting research studies on intellectual disability and Palanamai Building for being a training place for staffs.

  

On 30th Marth 1972,
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on behalf of Phrabat Somdet Phra Paraminthra Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Somdet Phra Nangchao Sirikit Phra Boromarajininat, the Queen Mother, have graciously presided over the opening ceremony of Mental Retardation Research Center and Palanamai Building. The aim of these buildings is to be a laboratory for conducting research studies on mental retardation both cause and prevention. The changing of medical concern especially human abnormality which chromosome was an emerging medical interest at a time. Therefore, Medical Department granted funding for many research studies in children with mental retardation. (As mental retardation is called at that period of time)

 

On 22nd April 1979,
Phrabat Somdet Phra Paraminthra Maha Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) ordered new name as Rajanukul hospital instead of Mental Retardation hospital which considered to be a great royal grace to individuals with intellectual disability.
With all His Majesty’s grace and generosity blessedly bestowed to Rajanukul Hospital, we all feel the courage and inspiration to give all we have to enrich the quality of life, and assist all individuals with intellectual disability to be able to live their life in the society with pride and joy. His Majesty’s wish is like a leading light for shining the way to all of us, we wholeheartedly determine to do our best to initiate a better world for all those individuals.

On 21st March 1990,
Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhaba Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra have graciously presided over the opening ceremony of the Outpatient Building of Rajanukul Hospital.

  

On 30th September 1994,
Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhaba Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra have graciously presided over the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the Recreation Center of Rajanukul Hospital.

  

On 18th March 2000,
Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhaba Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra have graciously presided over the grand openng ceremony of the exhibition “The Great 100th Year of Her Royal Highness King’s Mother” at the Peninsula Hotel.

   

On 29th October 2001,
Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhaba Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra have graciously presided over the opening ceremony of
“Rajanukul Hospital museum”. The museum is served a learning center and a great place to gather history of the development of individuals with intellectual disability in Thailand. Most importantly, the museum is revealing the royal grace of His Majesty King, Her Majesty Queen and all members of royal family including Chakri Dynasty who courteously bestowed opportunity for individual with intellectual disability.

   

On 29th September 20016,
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremonu of the Darunbannalai Children's Library, especially fot early childhood.


 

The Library's establishment received royal grace from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and was founded to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Her Tayal Highness 60th birthday anniversary on 2nd April, 2015 by Book for Children Foundation and Rajanukul Institute of the Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health. This library was preciously designed for both general children and those with special need.
Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn gave the name "Darunbannalai Children's Library". Which mean the library for chidren, and also graciously granted a permission to the library to mark the abbreviations for her royal name "สธ" in its name.
