On Thursday 30 th October 2014 at 10:00 am., Dr.Narong Sahamethapat, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Public Health delivered a speech to open the National Mental Health Week 2014 at Jupiter Hall; Miracle Grand Convention Hotel: Bangkok.
This year, the Department of Mental Health urged Thai people to be participated in mass happy life by creating social positive mood. The main aim of this campaign is that every Thai people of all ages will be educated and encouraged to have good mental health, positive thinking which could lead them to handle problems that happened to themselves and those around them well, including finding the balanced strategies to cope with that problems.
Since the violence and conflict in society are caused from negative emotions, so creating a good mood would lead peace and happiness. The trick to creating a good mood is named as 3 Minds key.
2. Satisfied Mind means to feel satisfied in what you have. Spend simple living. Make your life balanced for health, work, and family.
3. Proud Mind means feeling proud in what youve achieved thats added value to you and others. They might be the actions that make you to be accepted. Do anything that is beneficial to society. Give and help others. Be strong in order to adapt yourself to any situation and be able to handle any problem.
This Mental Health Week 2014 was the 25th year of holding under the campaign Create a good mood to make every life happy. The activities were divided into 2 parts. The first part was held at Miracle Grand Hotel on October 30th , which contained exhibitions that created good moods, for instance, how to create happiness by 3 Minds key, panel discussion on the topic of How to manage emotions in order to make happy minds by psychiatrists from Department of Mental Health. There also were skill trainings for making good emotions in all ages such as playing with your kids, creating happiness in childhood, doing good thing to make happiness, learning disappointment and handling with broken heart in adolescence, and communicating to reduce violence, etc.
The second part was held in all 31 psychiatric hospitals and psychiatric centers in Thailand. The activities were to educate people during 1-7 November 2014. There also were physical examinations, mental examination especially for stress and happiness measurement without charge.
